Based on reciprocal requirements The Russia Consulate General in New York, NY established two visa processing time both for travel agents and individuals.

STANDARD visa processing time is 4-20 business days and as a rule it takes two weeks if the full set of documents presented on the day of submission. Note, the day of submission is not included into the processing time.

EXPEDITE visa processing time is 3 business days. You have to provide the copy of your tickets showing the upcoming departure from the USA. If you are applying for business visa, the original invitation should be presented on the day of submission, the copy won’t be accepted.

SAME DAY and NEXT DAY visa processing time is available in the exceptional cases only. In most cases the applicant required to apply in person. The copy of the tickets and original business invitation, TELEX number or copy of the tourist voucher with confirmation is required in all cases.

Please, notice that the Russian consulate has the right to extend the processing time without any prior notice, to decline application without further explanations or to require the applicant to appear in person for the detailed interview with the officer.

It is important to apply for your Russian Visa as soon as you have a final confirmation on your trip to Russia. Make sure that your passport is in good condition, not going to be expired within 6 month from the date of your return and has at least two clear visa designed pages, otherwise the Russian Consulate has the right to return you application until your passport will be renewed or additional pages added.

Also, take into account that if you are processing your documents via travel agent, it takes additional 1-3 days to return your documents via preferred carrier.
